In Valle Vista’s peaceful land
Where our views are oh so grand
A humble hero, out of sight
Bore our burdens day and night
It stretched downhill, so long, so steep
A sewer pipe with secrets deep
It carried our odds and ends away
Until one dark and drippy day
A leak appeared, oh, what a mess!
A fragrant sign of some distress
The city came, all frowns and fines
With sternly worded, smelly lines
"Sorry, folks, this pipe's expired
It's time for the old boy to be retired
Time to move on to a newer version
And avoid an effluent incursion"
A patch was placed, the flow restrained
But questions linger, uncontained
We’d fix it quick, if only we could
But who pays to mend this pipe for good?
Will the Villages foot all the bill?
Or must Valle Vista climb that hill?
Will insurance step in and save the day?
Or must we open our wallets and pray?
For now, we wait, the verdict debated
Yet the flow continues unabated
And every time the toilets are flushing
We hope that pipe refrains from gushing
